Aleš (1962) studied letterforms and book design under Professor Jan Solpera at the Academy of Arts Architecture and Design in Prague (1982-1988). In the early 1990s he worked as the art director of Reflex magazine and as the editor in chief of the magazine Raut. In 1994 he founded Studio Najbrt, where he works with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the Czech Philharmonic, and has created logos for the cities of Prague and Ostrava, the National Gallery, Czech Railways and many other entities. For his designs of film and theatre posters, books, and the Raut magazine project, Aleš Najbrt won the Grand Prix at the 17th International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno 1996, a bronze medal from the Tokyo Type Directors Club, five Czech Lions and the Czech Grand Design award. He is a member of the equilibrist duo Thomas & Ruhller, the group Tros Sketos and the band M.T.O. Universal Praha.
